Digital4Sustainability is an EU initiative, funded under the Erasmus+ programme, that brings together educational institutions, industry associations, and sustainability experts who believe that digital technologies can accelerate Europe’s transition toward a greener and more sustainable future. Grounded in the intersection of digital innovation and sustainable development, it equips professionals and organisations with the skills and knowledge needed to design, deploy, and govern digital solutions that support environmental, economic, and social outcomes across Europe.
The Digital4Sustainability project advances this mission through three core emphases: using digital innovation to enable and scale sustainability goals such as climate neutrality; aligning digital transformation with sustainable development to ensure that technologies reduce negative impacts and contribute to long-term societal well-being; and taking a skills-driven approach that enable decision-makers and professionals to effectively lead and support the twin transition.
To achieve this, the project produces a set of concrete outputs: a Roles and Skills Needs Analysis Report, urgent and long-term VET upskilling and reskilling programmes, an EU-recognised certification of digital sustainability skills, and a Train-the-Trainer Package, all developed through a consortium from 13 EU countries working collaboratively to ensure training is aligned with real industry needs and future trends.
