Impact your future

Through its practice-based research, HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht in The Netherlands contributes to solutions for a wide range of societal issues. Issues submitted by our partners working in the field – at the regional, national and international level. We have over 50 lectors and around 600 researchers who conduct research, ensuring constant revision and improvement of our education programs and a valuable contribution to innovation in professional practice in the Netherlands and beyond.

Within our research centre we shape and give content to digital applications, taking the needs and interests of people and society as our starting point. The human being is the standard in everything we do. We call this: human-centered digitalization. We see digitalization as a means to achieve positive effects for people and society.

The research group Process Innovation and Information Systems (PI&IS) studies how digitalisation can add value to organisations. The research group Organisations in Digital Transition (ODT) explores how digital transformation affects organisations and employees and how to manage this. In this project, ODT and PI&IS combine their expertise to build on methodologies from previous Alliances for Innovation, focusing on upskilling and reskilling for resilient, sustainable smart communities. HU also draws on its educational institutes (ICT, People & Business, and Design & Engineering), the Center of Expertise Smart Sustainable Cities, and local partners to lead the analysis of skills supply and demand and participate in piloting training programmes.
