Enabling an inclusive and equal society of able and competent people
Hellenic Open University (HOU) is the only Greek State University that offers formal and non-formal lifelong education, in both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, to more than 40.000 students who are dispersed all over the country. Its training methodology combines distance learning, digital material, virtual meetings and online training platforms and tools. The DAISSy (Dynamic Ambient Intelligent Sociotechnical Systems) research group of the School of Science and Technology, through which the HOU will be involved in this project, realizes society-centred educational and technological research, develops online learning platforms and MOOCs, enables professional development especially regarding digital, green and citizenship skills and applies, develops and contributes to competence frameworks.
Its mission is to place people in the center of a smart technical ambience, thus enabling each and every one to master digital systems so as to achieve personal and societal benefit.
HOU/DAISSy has extensive experience in (a) the design of training curricula (b) the development of training material: we have developed our own ADDIE-like methodology, with assorted tools, for the design and development of high-quality training material, which is based on learning outcomes, (c) the development of MOOCs and online courses: we have developed more than 15 MOOCs and blended courses; (d) development and use of competence frameworks: we have been using almost all EC competence frameworks (e-CF, DigComp, DigComp, EntreComp, LifeComp etc), (e) competence development of smart city professionals: we have designed new occupational profiles, training curricula and MOOCs for at least five different types of smart city professionals
