The Sound of Innovation since 2012

Cluj IT was founded in 2012 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Cluj IT Cluster is Romania’s largest innovation ecosystem built along the IT industry value chain. Our business and innovation community has well over 100 members, with more than 80 thriving companies, 17 universities and research institutes, as well as a wide array of catalyst organizations. Driven by the needs and aspirations of our cluster members and of the larger community we are part of, Cluj IT focuses on strategic activities that push digital and green transformation, foster collaborative partnerships and forge transnational projects.

Over the years, we have worked diligently to establish a functional innovation-driven community with the aim to redefine value chains, create new ones and build a sustainable and resilient ecosystem.

Cluj IT intends to facilitate the smooth transition of its members on national and international markets, by increasing their innovation capacity and competitiveness. Furthermore, we are committed to founding lasting public-private partnerships for the mutual benefit of the clusters’ members and the society in general, leading to the development and launch of innovative IT services and products, plus organizational support systems.Via its Focus Group Smart Communities, DIGITAL SME engages European digital SMEs and public administrations from local, regional and national levels to support an open innovation ecosystem where communities can flourish through the deployment of trustworthy digital services made in Europe. The Focus Group supports the development of DIGITAL SME’s positions on smart communities-related policy initiatives.
Recognising the importance of equipping the European workforce with the necessary digital and transversal skills to design, implement, and manage advanced systems to ensure that smart communities are both innovative and equitable, DIGITAL SME has proudly taken on the coordination of the SMARCO project.

Cluj IT is SMARCO’s communication lead, responsible for the Communication Strategy and its implementation (WP8). Highlighting its main role in this WP, the organisation will be responsible to launch and maintain key project visibility tools and channels, such as website, social media accounts, etc., which would ensure the ongoing communication and visibility for the project. Moreover, it will foster active involvement and collaboration with key stakeholders, including education providers, decision-makers, industry representatives, and other relevant groups, granting their interest in and uptake of the key project results.

The cluster will also contribute to the skills supply and demand analysis and its annual updates (WP2), and the piloting of the training programmes and short-term upskilling with Romanian ICT companies, focusing specifically on SMEs (WP4 and WP6). Finally, Cluj IT will be actively involved in the Blueprint and Strategy development, and will organise a local round-table with decision makers.
