Driving digital innovation for future-ready communities
The National Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos” is a multidisciplinary research center in Greece, conducting cutting-edge research in science and technology. Its Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications (IIT) focuses on AI, big data, cybersecurity, and next-gen networks. IIT actively supports digital transformation through initiatives like SmartAttica EDIH, ahedd DIH and the greek AI factory “Pharos”, and collaborates with European networks such as BDVA and the AI-on-Demand Platform.
NCSR Demokritos advances scientific excellence and innovation across disciplines to address societal challenges. Its mission is to conduct high-impact research, support technological development, and foster collaboration with industry, academia, and policymakers for sustainable growth and digital transformation.
NCSRD plays several key roles in the project. It is primarily responsible for engaging companies in the piloting of training programmes and leading the analysis of skills supply within smart communities. Additionally, NCSRD contributes to the development of the smart communities Blueprint and Strategy and represents it to Greek policymakers and other stakeholders. As the coordinator of SmartAttica EDIH, NCSRD also fosters synergies with the European Digital Innovation Hubs Network, as well as with partners and SME clients of the SmartAttica EDIH and ahedd DIH S.A.. Furthermore, it is an active member of the European Big Data Value Association (BDVA) and of Pact for Skills.
